April 19, 2006 Three new tour routes of Amazing Oak Park... Announcing News that's New for you, the Public! Just when you thought the wonderful world of rickshaws couldn't get any better. This season check out our new tour routes! We'll be featuring three (count 'em three) tour routes that will cover an amazing amount of our amazing Village of Oak Park. Choose our Northern Route to visit Ridgeland Commons, Wonder Works Children's Museum, Dole Branch Library, BR Guest Bed and Breakfast or to enjoy some of the most diverse architecture in Oak Park along Fair Oaks Avenue. The Southern Route will take you to the Harvey House Bed & Breakfast, South Oak Park Ave Business District, The Conservatory, Barrie Park or the Village Hall. The Central Route features many of the Oak Park standards like Pleasant Home, The Historical Society, Downtown Oak Park, Unity Temple, The Visitor's Center, Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio, Under the Ginko Tree Bed & Breakfast, Hemingway Museum and Write Inn. All routes connect at Ridgeland Commons so you can use our Custom Cabs to see as much of Oak Park as you want! No need to thank us. It's what we do. April 17, 2006 Spring has sprung! Welcome rains bring sprouts of green and leaves return to the trees. The Tax Man waives "goodbye" for another year and a young man's fancy turns to pedicabs. We'll be back in action serving the Greater Oak Park area beginning on Earth Day, April 22, 2006. April 15, 2006 Well it seems like only yesterday we were cheering on our White Sox wondering if this could really be happening!?! So it's only appropriate that we prepare to resume rolling down the highways and biways of our suburban and urban hot spots as they pick up their sticks and seek to repeat that awesome acheivement. Good luck to both our White Sox and Cubs this year! October 1, 2005 While the calendar says summer is on vacation, folks are still looking for outdoor fun. With our post Labor Day schedule we do our best to insure that every red-blooded American, or visiting foreign national for that matter, still has an opportunity to enjoy a pedicab rickshaw ride while in our fair village of Oak Park, Illinois! (or other nearby suburban areas within pedaling distance) Our pedicabs can be found on Friday and Saturday evenings from about 8:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. on or near Lake Street between Oak Park and Harlem Avenues. After 11:30 p.m. we enter Forest Park and shuttle folks to and from their favorite bars and eateries until 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. We also operate pedicabs on Saturday and Sunday during the daytime from around 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Feedback to both of these services seems to be really positive thus far, so we hope to serve you soon and see what you think! Not surprisingly, we seem to be most popular with the younger set. So much so that we are planning to offer a "student fare" of $4.00 ( a savings of 20%) for any student presenting their student ID. Now, it just wouldn't be right to provide a discounted fare to one end of the population and not the other...so we'll also provide a $4.00 fare for all Senior Citizens (65 and older) with their favorite form of senior ID. Thus we are evolving a price structure that is based on a $5.00 per person fare that increases at the end of quarter hour intervals as shown here on our web site. We are basically available whenever you need us if you simply call us (773-771-3922) or use the e-mail links on this web site to make your reservations for service. See you on the Boulevard!! October 1, 2005 An advertising first at Rickshaw Rick's! We have been happy and proud to welcome our very first advertisers to our wonder world of pedicabs...Garapolo/Maynard Architects! This well known local firm bought a two-week run beginning the weekend of Oktoberfest. Of cousre, being our first advertisers, they receive the additional benefit of being bragged about on the internet, as well as me forgeting to move their banner for an extra week or so. Knowing the importance of architecture in our community makes it even more special to us that an architectural firm of such stature has trusted us with their business. Thanks again, guys. If you'd like more info about advertising rates and practices, check out the e-mail link on this site or call us at 773-771-3922. We'll save some space on our backsides for you! October 1, 2005 The next GREAT thing... Saturday, October 1, 2005 proved to be a date of potential import to Rickshaw Rick's Custom Cabs. On that day amazing innkeeper, Beth Harvey, of the equally amazing Harvey House B&B, and her delightful daughter, Claire, took a ride w/Rickshaw Rick to check out the world famous Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio Tour. We took the "walking tour" w/ the Ipod head sets and set out to find out just how much fun it could be to take in the wonders of our local architecture while aboard a smart little pedicab. As we suspected, it's big-time fun!! We were able to speed up or slow down the pace easily which made use of the Ipod quite seamless. If we wanted a closer look at anything we simply departed the cab for a moment and, yes, walked. We at RRCC have been so looking forward to making contact with the Home and Studio because of it's obvious expertise and popularity within our local tourism industry. We are hopeful that RRCC will become a popular addition to the Historic District tours as we can provide a great new way for people to experience the story of Mr. Wright and his architectural philosophy as seen in the real homes of our neighborhoods. If you really do want to walk the tour, at least let us take you back home, to the train, or wherever else may work for you. Sound like fun? C'mon and give it a try while the leaves are turning. Perfection. October 1, 2005 What can I do? Where do I sign up?? If you like what you've seen thus far of the rough and ready world of human-powered transit and you'd like to learn more please use our web site to contact us. We'll be happy to share all kinds of cool stuff with you. Whether it's helping to link you to other businesses and services of interest or providing environmental / educational contacts for your perusal, we want to help you find it. Soon we will provide a wide range of links on our web site to allow you easy connections to as many points of interest and attractions as most folks can imagine without having a headache. In the meantime, if you ask it, we'll do our best to answer it the old fashioned way, we'll look it up. October 1, 2005 THANKS!
